The month to month (m-to-m) deflation rate for South Sumatra Province in February 2025 was 0.41 percent and the year to date (y-to-d) deflation rate was 0.77 percent.

In January 2025 it rose 6.13 percent to 354,889 tons.The number of passengers using the train transportation mode in January 2025 was 91,023 people or a decrease of 4.95 percent.

Abstract

  • The total workforce in August 2022 was 4.50 million people, an increase of 99.05 thousand people compared to August 2021. In line with the increase in the number of the workforce, the Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) also increased by 0.54 percentage points.
  • The working population is 4.29 million people, an increase of 109.99 thousand people from August 2021. The jobs that experienced the largest increase were the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Sector (112.74 thousand people). Meanwhile, the sectors that experienced the biggest decline were the Wholesale and Retail Trade Sector; Repair and Maintenance of Cars and Motorcycles (27.73 thousand people).
  • A total of 2.71 million people (63.28 percent) worked in informal activities, down 0.88 percentage point compared to August 2021.
  • The percentage of underemployed and part-time workers decreased by 3.85 percentage points and 0.85 percentage points respectively compared to August 2021.
  • The Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in August 2022 was 4.63 percent, down by 0.35 percentage points compared to August 2021.
  • There are 74.18 thousand people (1.14 percent) of the working age population affected by COVID-19. Consists of unemployment due to COVID-19 (4.19 thousand people), Non-Work Force (BAK) due to COVID-19 (7.01 thousand people), temporarily not working due to COVID-19 (1.19 thousand people), and residents working who experienced a reduction in working hours due to COVID-19 (61.78 thousand people).
