The month to month (m-to-m) deflation rate for South Sumatra Province in February 2025 was 0.41 percent and the year to date (y-to-d) deflation rate was 0.77 percent.

In January 2025 it rose 6.13 percent to 354,889 tons.The number of passengers using the train transportation mode in January 2025 was 91,023 people or a decrease of 4.95 percent.

Abstract

EXPORT

  • The value of Sumatera Selatan’s exports in January 2024 reached US$441.35 million, decreased 28.17 percent compared to exports in December 2023 and decreased 23.78 percent compared to January 2023.
  • Non-oil and gas exports in January 2024 reached US$401.79 million, decreased 30.02 percent compared to non-oil and gas exports in December 2023. Meanwhile, it decreased 26.98 percent compared to January 2023.
  • The main country destinations of exports in January 2024 were China at US$163.69 million, India at US$54.60 million, and Malaysia at US$38.61 million.
  • Sumatera Selatan’s exports were dominated by manufacture sector which shared US$219.35 million or 49.70 percent of total export.

IMPORT

  • Imports of Sumatera Selatan in January 2024 were worth US$221.43 million, increased by 23.62 percent compared to December 2023, and grew by five times or US$ 49.97 million compared to January 2023.
  • Imports of oil and gas in January 2024 were US$219.68 million, increased by 23.94 percent compared to December 2023, and increased by 337.79 percent compared to December 2022.
  • The big three largest trading partner countries of non-oil and gas imports in January 2024 were China for US$129.59 million (58.53percent), Finland for US$51.82 million (23.40 percent), and Malaysia for US$12.75 million (5.76 percent).
  • Sumatera Selatan’s balance of trade in January 2024 experienced a surplus of US$219.92 million, which affected by a surplus of non-oil and gas of US$182.11 million and a surplus of oil and gas of US$387.81 million in oil and gas.
