The month to month (m-to-m) deflation rate for South Sumatra Province in February 2025 was 0.41 percent and the year to date (y-to-d) deflation rate was 0.77 percent.

In January 2025 it rose 6.13 percent to 354,889 tons.The number of passengers using the train transportation mode in January 2025 was 91,023 people or a decrease of 4.95 percent.

Export
  • The export value of South Sumatra in June 2024 reached US$625.86 million or increased by 24.05 percent compared to exports in May 2024. And when compared to June 2023, the export value increased by 14.11 percent.
  • Non-oil and gas exports in June 2024 reached US$580.84 million, up 21.79 percent compared to May 2024. Compared to June 2023, non-oil and gas exports increased by 15.26 percent.
  • Cumulatively, the export value of South Sumatra for the January–June 2024 period reached US$2,707.63 million or decreased by 16.58 percent compared to the same period in 2023.
  • The largest export share in June 2024 was China at US$248.20 million, India at US$90.29 million and South Korea at US$47.15 million.
  • Cumulatively, the largest export value of South Sumatra from January to June 2024 was directed to China at US$1067.75 million, India at US$349.83 million, and Malaysia at US$231.29 million, with the contribution of the three reaching 55.96 percent. Meanwhile, exports to ASEAN and the European Union were 24.01 percent and 3.60 percent respectively.

  • The value of South Sumatra's imports in June 2024 reached US$139.84 million, down 11.37 percent compared to May 2024, and up 204.15 percent compared to June 2023.
  • Oil and gas imports in June 2024 were worth US$1.01 million, down 45.07 percent compared to May 2024, and up 4.54 percent compared to June 2023.
  • Non-oil and gas imports in June 2024 were worth US$138.84 million, down 10.97 percent compared to May 2024, and up 208.42 percent compared to June 2023.
  • The three largest import supplier countries from January to June 2024 were China US$695.25 million (62.65 percent), Finland US$126.11 million (11.36 percent), and Thailand US$42.62 million (3.84 percent). The import value from ASEAN in January-June 2024 was US$13.76 million (12.05 percent) and the European Union US$189.60 million (17.09 percent).
  • South Sumatra's Trade Balance in June 2024 experienced a surplus of US$486.02 million originating from the non-oil and gas sector of US$442.01 million and the oil and gas sector of US$44.01 million.
